Many state boards of nursing and other certification organizations recognize CA BRN contact hours and AACN CERPs as meeting continuing education (CE) requirements. We recommend consulting with your state board or credentialing organization before submitting any learning activities identified as having contact hours through CA BRN or AACN.

Physician assistants can use hours from CA BRN and AACN toward their Category 2 CME requirement. The National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) accepts any educational activity that relates to medicine, patient care or the role of the PA towards Category 2 CME required hours.
Do you offer Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits for courses on Medtronic Academy?
Accrediting bodies such as ACCME have strict rules limiting industry involvement in CME-accredited programs. Therefore, Medtronic may not offer CME credits directly to customers. We currently offer two courses with contact hours from ASRT.
How many times can I attempt a quiz/exam to receive ASRT credit on approved courses?
Per ASRT’s guidelines you are only allowed to attempt a quiz three times to receive contact hours for a course. If unable to obtain a passing score on the third attempt, you will not be able to receive credit for the course. Answer feedback is not permitted on ASRT accredited quizzes. However, you can contact us to receive quiz feedback if you failed to achieve a passing score on your third attempt.
What does the expiration date on my certificate mean?
All self-learning activities approved by ASRT have expiration dates. The expiration dates refer to the course approval period, this expiration does not apply to your contact hour eligibility. Your contact hour does not expire.
Some courses on Medtronic Academy may qualify as an activity under the IBHRE Verification of Continuing Education Credits (VCE) requirements. Medtronic educators have reviewed the course library for alignment with three or more competencies listed in the IBHRE Certification Examination Outline(s) and identified which courses may meet the IBHRE VCE requirements. IBHRE in its sole discretion determines whether a particular activity meets an VCE requirement, and Medtronic cannot fully represent or warrant that a course meets IBHRE requirements. It is the learner’s responsibility to review the applicable IBHRE VCE policy and specific Certification Examination Outline(s) and to maintain copies of Continuing Education certificates, where required. What certificate should I reference for IBHRE VCE submission?
The certificate of completion for each individual course can be used to reference the activities you have completed that apply towards IBHRE VCE. Note that Learning Plan completion certificates do not contain hours towards IBHRE VCE. Each course within the learning plan that can be used for IBHRE VCE is marked with a green asterik.
Once you have completed a course with contact hours, your certificate will be available on the course page or on your Dashboard to review and print. Can I complete courses using a tablet or mobile device?
What if my course isn't showing complete?
In order for a course to be marked complete, all content presented in the courses must be reviewed and if applicable, all knowledge check questions must be answered. The webpage may need to be refreshed after you’ve exited a course for the status of the course to be updated.
If a course you have taken is still not showing as complete, please send us an e-mail with the name of the course and date you completed it.
I attended an in-person Medtronic program and did not receive my certificate, what should I do?
Medtronic does offer continuing education for some in-person programs. When applicable, the process for obtaining credit certificates will be advertised at the program. If you have attended a Medtronic program that offered continuing education and did not receive your certificate, please contact us. Please provide your full name, the program name, date, and location.
